Halfway to Halloween

One of the joys of being a horror writer is the fact that your writing allows you to meet all kinds of people and take you all different places such as book signings and conventions, just to name a few. On Saturday evening, May 19th, I got invited to attend a little social called Halfoween in downtown Oklahoma City. This was put on by the guys who had invited me to Scaretacular at the Guthrie Scaregrounds the month before. It was a really fun event with perfect weather. How can you go wrong with a social that has hamburgers, cool hearses, and people who are really into Halloween and haunted houses? We started by kicking the night off by watching The Last Trick or Treater, the short film made of the story with the same name in my book 13 Nightmares. It was so cool to sit and watch it again with a bunch of new people who love horror outside under the stars. It reminded me of the days of watching movies at the drive-in. To top the night off, we paraded the vehicles through the streets of Bricktown where all the party people shouted and waved at us. I rode on the back of a yellow fire truck during this procession. It was a blast. Thanks to the guys at Guthrie Scaregrounds for putting on a really cool event.
